Task system / Labor cost tracking

Labor cost tracking

Every task is a timed session. When staff claims a task, their hourly pay rate is snapshotted. On completion, the system calculates exact labor cost.

Pay rate (snapshotted)
$18/hr
Active time
22 min
Pauses excluded
Labor cost
$6.60
Stored, not derived

Why snapshotting matters

The pay rate is captured at claim time — not creation, not the current rate. Give someone a raise next week, last week's tasks still show the correct cost. Reports are always historically accurate.

For maintenance tasks (start → pause → resume → done), active time is the sum of working segments, not wall clock time. A task paused overnight doesn't inflate labor cost.

Labor cost combines with rental revenue to give you true room-level profitability — how much it costs to turn over each room, which types are most profitable, where labor is being spent.
